I like it. Suggestions?

I think adding template codes for the builds would be nice.

Yes, it is quite a helpful thread, thus we have decided to Sticky this for now. We believe its the best beginning guide on the Dervish currently on Guru, so it will remain a sticky until this changes.

Sticky'd.

Default The Current Dervish

It is somewhat sad to see the way they dealt with Grenth.

[skill=big]Avatar of Grenth[/skill]

However, they did what the populous wanted. I still feel that it was harsh(Notice that Grenth has LITERALLY disappeared from the face of PvP!), and then the lack of Dervish in PvP(High end) is sad as well.

Do I feel it unneccessary? No, but I do feel it was harsh. Once a character class or popular skill totally disappears from the metagame, it is shunned by most,if not all as being unuseable. Yet, the dervish perseveres!

Most of what the OP stated about the dervish is still currently relevant, except Grenth's dominance in PvP. For the most part, AoM,AoD,AoL, and AoB are used as they have always been used. Some energy increases, some hp bonus decreases(AoM) but all in all, still viable.

New Dervishs should definitely read the OP, and then delve into the mor current changes that can be found on th GW website.

Sticky'd.
Thanks.

I think there are 5 pages of

"STICKY STICKY!!"

"/Bump this needs a sticky less dervish noobs"

"why hasn't this been stickied yet!!!"

I always thought sundering was a worthless mod as it isnt as constant unlike vamp or zealous. Why is it on a dervish you like it so much?

very nice guide, even though i don't agree with most of your pvp viewpoints.
i always liked dervish more then warriors because of their huge aoe damage, the ability to bring enchants to tank like them, and still be useful with only two attack skills.

Nice guide.. I use a dervish/assassin build often much like the AoD one u suggested. Worked well on capping the Avatar Of Lyssa since i could just pop up the stairs and kill off aggro without attracting more aggro.. and Lyssas attention for that matter. GJ.. nice guide.

Hmm you should probably update the guide because of the recent update.

The new PvE skills and armor cap change a few things.

One combination im missing here is a D/R.

Its a great tanker and can combine perfectly with Bathazar resulting in a supercharged Melandru type of Dervish.

You get all the advantages of Balthazar (armor and speeed... not to mention the longer Avatar form) and if you add Antidote signet to your skillbar you have a partial immunity to conditions (ie you need to cast it every now and then to get rid of them). But if you have a good monk backing you up you can take on quite a few enemies at the same time and still not have to worry about your healthbar too much.

The only downside to this combination though is that bleeding can still take a hefty chunk out of your red bar because the signet doesnt cover that... im still looking for an effective band-aid for that though.

Very nice guild indeed. I see you've mentioned most (or all) good dervish skills, but what about Zealous Vow? It gives you a nice spamming ability, combined with Mystic Vigor a nice hp boost and a lot of damage, especially if you bring a ritualist with splinter weapon along. I currently use it on my dervish in PvE. This is my current build:

Zealous Vow
Mystic Sweep
Eremite's Attack
Victorious Sweep
Radiant Scythe
Mystic Regeneration
Mystic Vigor
Faithful Intervention

The recharge times of scythe attacks are 4,4,4,6 and with ZV on I can basically spam those all the time, with Mystic Regen providing a good hp regen (Faithful, ZV, Mystic regen and Mystic Vigor) I'm at full energy almost all the time if I target a group of enemies so Radiant Scythe does max damage. My ritualist hero has splinter weapon so I deal massive damage on grouped enemies. What do you think?

~An energy leech weapon, which is a zealous scythe with a 15^50 or 15% while enchanted mod and a fortitude bonus.

~An Earth Scythe for Ebon Dust Aura.
~A staff with +10 energy and an insightful +5 head, modded with a +30 staff wrapping (Collecters is fine, this is for mystic spiking.)
last time i checked 50% while enchanted never existed... fixed >_<

this is a nice guide by the way. i think i'm going to level the dervish i made sooner than i had planned.

Talking Thanks for the outstanding guide!

I don't play that often and was frustrated with the noob plateau I had hit. This guide cleared up a ton of confusion I had about GW in general and breathed new life into my gameplay. Thanks!
